Unicoi County
Hidden Treasures await...
Unicoi County is located in the
mountainous region of northeast Tennessee,

sharing its southern border with western North Carolina. Despite the
rugged terrain, the county is easily accessible via a scenic highway
that traverses its valley.
The
natural beauty and resources that first brought settles to the region
continue to attract modern-day visitors. Woodlands cover two-thirds
of the county, and nearly half of the county lies within the Cherokee
National Forest. A unique aspect of Unicoi County is its easy access
to wilderness areas, where opportunities for outdoor recreation are
virtually endless.
Each season offers unspoiled beauty. In the spring,
hillsides are resplendent the cherry, serviceberry, dogwood and redbud
blossoms; woodland trails are a carpet of wildflowers. During the
summer months, forests greet visitors with a refreshingly cool and
hushed environment; mountaintops are clear and breezy. Autumn presents
an incomparable display of explosive colors across the land; and a
mild winter climate graces the ridges with a dusting of snow, highlighting
the dense evergreens.
